kia ora, hello, hi, guten morgen, molo, ciao, hey, whats up, sawubona.
My name is Anka (which means duck in Swedish), just in case you were wondering, and no, I'm not Swedish, I'm a South African "boere meisie". Born & raised in Cape Town, then became an African American in the US of A for 12 years before I moved to the stunning land of the long white cloud - Aotearoa - New Zealand with my partner in crime & photographer Sven Martin in 2011. During the NZ summers, we run proper, backcountry guided mountain bike trips in and around the spectacular top of the south island.
For the other five months of the year we live in our trusty old van, based mainly in France, but traveling throughout Europe, Canada & the USA, following the World Cup & the EWS race series, which I race & Sven shoots for a living (amongst various other jobs). In-between events, we try to explore & experience as many new places as possible. When I'm not racing, I'm out guiding other like minded people in some beautiful part of the world or saluting the sun from my yoga mat.
I'm a Juliana Bicycles & SRAM racer & ambassador representing the Juliana SRAM Pro team this year. I'm passionate about the outdoors, nature, my bike & exploring new places, countries & cultures along the way. Follow me to see where the next adventure will take me and my Roubion.
peace out, Anka x.
